Part-Time Import Clerk
Location: Ipswich
Hours: Approximately 14 hours per week (flexible across Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday – not Wednesdays)
Our client, a well-established freight forwarder based in Ipswich, is seeking an experienced Part-Time Import Clerk to support their busy Imports team. This role has been created to assist with a growing workload and would suit an individual with prior import experience who is looking for flexible, reduced hours
Key Responsibilities
Processing import customs entries and liaising with HMRC where required
Managing documentation including bills of lading, invoices, and clearance paperwork
Liaising with shipping lines, hauliers, and customers to ensure timely delivery of cargo
Updating internal systems and maintaining accurate shipment records
Resolving queries relating to import shipments and documentation
Supporting the wider Imports team with general administrative duties
Requirements
Previous experience within import freight forwarding (essential)
Good understanding of import procedures and customs clearance processes
Familiarity with relevant systems (e.g. CDS / customs software) advantageous
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and manage workload within limited hours
Good communication skills when dealing with clients and suppliers
