Transport Planner
Location: Great Blakenham, Suffolk
Salary: £35,000 per annum + Overtime
Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 8:00pm
Additional Requirement: out-of-hours call cover alternate evenings and weekends

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Transport Planner to join its busy operations team at Great Blakenham. This role is responsible for the planning and coordination of full container load (FCL) deliveries, primarily servicing Amazon Distribution Centres across the UK. And some full trailer loads (FTL) from our warehouses.
Working in a fast-paced environment, you will ensure efficient vehicle utilisation, excellent customer service, and compliance with transport regulations while maintaining high service levels for key customers.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and scheduling full container load deliveries
Managing daily vehicle routes and driver allocations
Monitoring transport operations to ensure on-time delivery performance
Liaising with drivers, customers, ports and warehouse teams
Responding quickly to operational issues and implementing effective solutions
Maximising vehicle utilisation and route efficiency
Ensuring compliance with driver hours, Working Time Directive and transport legislation
Maintaining accurate transport and operational records
Communicating delivery updates and resolving customer queries
Providing remote out-of-hours support and weekend call cover as required

Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience in a traffic planning role
Knowledge of container transport operations and UK road networks
Strong geographical knowledge and route planning skills
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage changing priorities
Good IT skills, including transport management systems and Microsoft Office
Good understanding of Port Systems – CBS, Ocean and Destin8
Knowledge of driver hours regulations and transport compliance
A proactive and customer-focused approach
